ITALIAN RENAISSANCE DRESSES
Based on Italian dresses from the 15th century as seen in paintings by Ghirlandaio, Crivelli, Cossa and other Renaissance artists, these styles consist of three layers: the high waisted, split skirt overdress (cioppa) worn over a silk underdress (cotta) and a chemise (camicia).

Silk Underdress (Cotta)

This square-necked, side laced dress is made of 100% raw silk noil. It can be worn as an underdress with a cioppa or stands alone as a casual day dress.

The perfect overdress to show off your silk cotta. Available in two fabrics (silk for summer and velveteen for winter) with two sleeve styles. The closures are small double-sided grommets with cord laces on both the dress and sleeves. The straight sleeve attaches to the bodice with hooks and eyes.

OUR SIZING STANDARDS
Our dresses are not sized by modern sizing standards since period dresses do not fit like modern clothing. The table (right) is merely a guide line to help you in your selection and not a hard and fast rule. Much depends on how you like your clothing to fit and your body style. The first measurement in each "size" is the actual garment measurement at the bustline. You should compare this number to your actual bust measurement.

IF YOU WANT IT TO FIT, BUT NOT "LIFT AND SUPPORT", your bust measurement should be the same at the first number.

IF YOU WANT A FIRM LIFT AND SUPPORT, your bust measurements can go up to the second number (and may possibly exceed it by a small amount).
