SEWING AIDS

Needlework was a favorite past time and a valued skill among the noble ladies during the Renaissance. Many samples of royal handiwork from this time period is exhibited in museums today. Sewing aids such as needle cases, thimble boxes, and scissors often hung from a chatelaine attached to a belt or brooch.

Thimbles, Thimble Boxes and Needle Cases

These sterling silver sewing aids have an ornate design etched into the outer surface and are actually pendants that can be hung on a chatelaine, ribbon or chain.

This needle case is a flat case with a 3/8" oval and measures 2 1/2" in length (including the bail).

Another larger sterling silver needle case with fine etching that is round measuring 1/2" in diameter and measures 2 3/4" in length. This case does not have a bail for hanging.
